Valid Again

I am now, once again, a valid driver in the state of Ohio, after a 90 minute drive to the reinstatement office in Youngstown Ohio.
Please someone explain to me why I could not do this over the Internet. I honestly had to drive 90 minutes up and back to give them one piece of paper and pay a reinstatement fee because they do not accept credit cards.
The state of Ohio is in a financial crisis, yet we can afford to staff an office just to accept money from poor saps like myself.
And I couldn't even get the actual license there... I will be making yet another trip to the local BMV to have that done on Saturday.

  1. That reminds me of the night you got pulled over because I kept telling you to pull toward a Mac machine that I thought I saw in the dark but wasn't there. It appeared that you were swerving, and so you got pulled over. The cop gave you a sobriety balance test, and you said, "Officer, I'm not drunk, I'm just uncoordinated!"

  2. That is insane. I honestly didn't know that there was such a thing as the "reinstatement office". Sounds like a department of the third reich.

  3. I wanted to just overnight them everything when they said that I couldn't do it over the phone and they wouldn't give me a physical address for the building in Columbus - only a P.O. Box. They also would not take a personal check, they wanted cash or a money order... I did not feel comfortable sending a money order to a p.o. box - especially when the woman on the phone said if she was me me, she would just drive to Youngstown because it is less of a mess."
BTW - this is all because I tried to be nice and let someone borrow my car. What is that they say about the road to hell?

Darcey - that night will always be in my mind as one of the funniest nights of my life. Thank God the cop liked a smart ass - especially one in a mini skirt and high heels. I also remember I lost my contact when he did that thing where they make you follow the pen with just your eyes and he had to use his flashlight to help me find it and put it back in.
